Walkthrough: Using Kundali Milan for Marriage Compatibility
A step-by-step guide to running a full Ashtakoot compatibility check in Pandit Ji — entering both charts, reading the 36-point score, and understanding the dosha warnings.
Kundali Milan in Pandit Ji runs a complete Ashtakoot compatibility analysis — all 8 kutas, the full 36-point score, individual kuta breakdowns, and Mangal Dosha checks for both partners. This walkthrough takes you from the first screen to a full reading.
Step 1: Open Kundali Milan
Open the Guidance tab and tap the Kundali Milan card. You'll land on the Vivah screen which lists any saved compatibility results. Tap "New match" to start a fresh check — you'll see two profile slots: one for partner A and one for partner B.
Step 2: Enter Both Birth Profiles
For each person, enter name, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. The birth time is required for Kundali Milan — the Moon's exact nakshatra and pada determines the compatibility calculations. If a time is unknown, try to get it from a birth certificate or hospital record; even a rough time (morning, afternoon, night) narrows the Moon's position significantly.
If the person already exists in your Parivar profiles, tap "Choose from Parivar" to select them directly instead of re-entering the data.
Step 3: Run the Compatibility Check
Tap "Check Compatibility." The results screen shows:
- Both partners' Janma Nakshatra, Rashi (Moon sign), and Gana
- The total Ashtakoot score out of 36
- A color-coded compatibility summary: strong (28+), good (24–27), acceptable (18–23), challenging (below 18)
Step 4: Read the Kuta Breakdown
Tap "View Full Breakdown" to see each of the 8 kutas scored individually:
- Varna (1 pt) — Spiritual compatibility
- Vashya (2 pts) — Mutual attraction
- Tara (3 pts) — Destiny and health
- Yoni (4 pts) — Physical compatibility
- Maitri (5 pts) — Mental wavelength
- Gana (6 pts) — Temperament
- Bhakoot (7 pts) — Love and longevity
- Nadi (8 pts) — Health and progeny
Each kuta shows its score, the maximum possible, and a brief explanation of what it measures and what the score means for this specific pair.
Step 5: Check the Dosha Warnings
Scroll below the kuta breakdown to the Dosha section. Pandit Ji checks for:
- Nadi Dosha — If both partners share the same Nadi (Adi, Madhya, or Antya), this is flagged with an explanation of the traditional concern and known cancellation factors.
- Bhakoot Dosha — If the Moon sign relationship falls in the 6-8 or 9-5 pattern, this is flagged similarly.
- Mangal Dosha — Checked independently for both partners, with house placement shown and any applicable cancellations noted.
Step 6: Find Auspicious Wedding Dates
The VivahResult screen includes a dedicated "Find auspicious Vivah dates" section right below the compatibility report. This searches for wedding muhurat dates using both partners' birth data — personalized date selection built directly into the compatibility result. Searching 12 and 18 months ahead is a Pro feature; free users can search up to 6 months.
Pandit Ji gives you a live panchang, personal guidance from your birth chart, and muhurat timing — calculated for your exact location.
