Today's Mantra: How the Daily Sanskrit Mantra Feature Works

Pandit Ji selects a Sanskrit mantra or shloka each day based on the tithi and its presiding deity. Here's how to read, listen to, and share the daily mantra.

Pandit Ji·July 1, 2026

Every tithi in the Hindu lunar calendar is associated with a presiding deity, and each deity has a body of sacred mantras and shlokas. Pandit Ji uses this association to surface a relevant Sanskrit mantra or shloka each day — one that connects the energy of the lunar date to a practice you can actually use.

Finding the Daily Mantra

The daily mantra appears as a card on the Today screen and as a full-screen feature accessible from the Guidance tab. Tap the mantra card to open the full view.

What the Full View Shows

The Mantra screen displays:

The background uses a deity-specific gradient — Vishnu mantras appear in deep indigo, Durga mantras in crimson, Shiva mantras in ash-blue — giving each day a distinct visual tone tied to its energy.

Audio and Pronunciation

Tap the play button to hear the mantra recited. The audio comes from a curated YouTube source for that mantra — it opens within the app so you can follow the text while listening. This is especially useful for longer shlokas where pronunciation guidance matters.

Sharing

Tap the share icon to generate a share card with the Sanskrit text, transliteration, and today's context. The card can be shared directly to WhatsApp, Messages, or any other app.

How Mantras Are Selected

Selection is deterministic — the same tithi always maps to the same mantra catalog for that deity. On festival days and special occasions, a festival-specific mantra takes precedence over the standard tithi selection. The catalog contains mantras for all 30 tithis across major Hindu deity traditions including Vishnu, Shiva, Devi, Ganesha, Surya, Chandra, Hanuman, and Guru.
