Shubh Samay: Your Personal Day Score Explained

Shubh Samay is a Pro feature that computes a composite 0–100 personal auspiciousness score for each day, combining Tarabalam, Chandrabalam, Vara Shuddhi, live Choghadiya, and Hora.

The panchang tells you what the sky is doing. Tarabalam and Chandrabalam tell you how today relates to your birth chart. Shubh Samay — a Pro feature — combines all of this into a single 0–100 composite score for each person in your Parivar, updated in real time as Choghadiya and Hora windows shift throughout the day.

How to Access Shubh Samay

Go to the Parivar screen (Guidance tab → Parivar). Each person card shows a score chip — a small circular badge with today's score. Tap the chip to open the full Shubh Samay screen for that person. You can also access it from the Guidance tab directly if you've set a primary profile.

What Goes Into the Score

The composite score is calculated from five factors:

The score updates in real time as Choghadiya and Hora windows change — which means the same day can have quite different scores at different hours.

The Weekly Strip

Below the score hero, the "This Week" strip shows the base personal score for each of the next 7 days — calculated from Tarabalam, Chandrabalam, and Vara Shuddhi (the fixed daily factors, without the real-time Choghadiya and Hora component). This lets you identify which days this week are personally strong in advance, so you can front-load important decisions to your best days.

Best Windows Today

The "Best windows today" section shows the top 3 future time windows ranked by composite score — combining your personal factors with the Choghadiya and Hora quality for each slot. These are the best times remaining in the day to act on anything important. The windows are sorted descending by score and only show future times (past windows are removed).

Chandrashtama on the Score Screen

When you're in Chandrashtama — the ~2.5-day window when the Moon is in an inauspicious position relative to your Janma Rashi — the Shubh Samay screen shows a moon icon and a "Chandrashtama" label in the tier badge. Even an otherwise decent Choghadiya day gets a significantly reduced score during Chandrashtama. The score screen makes this visible at a glance rather than requiring you to check the panchang separately.

Comparing Family Members

Because the score is personalized, family members can have very different scores on the same day. A day that's a 78 for you might be a 43 for your spouse if they're in Chandrashtama. This makes the Parivar screen a useful morning check — a quick scan of everyone's chips tells you immediately whose day is strong and who needs extra care.
