How to Use Ask the Pandit AI: Getting Personalized Guidance
Ask the Pandit combines your birth chart with today's live panchang to answer your specific questions. Here's how to ask well, what categories it covers, and what to expect.
Ask the Pandit is unlike any horoscope or astrology feature you've used before. It doesn't give you a generic "Aries: be cautious with finances" — it answers your specific question using your actual birth chart combined with today's live panchang data. This guide explains how to get the most out of it.
What Ask the Pandit Knows
When you ask a question, Ask the Pandit has access to:
- Today's tithi, nakshatra, yoga, and all panchang elements — calculated for your location
- Your Janma Nakshatra, Lagna (rising sign), and Moon sign
- Your current Mahadasha and Antardasha period
- The profile you've selected (yourself or any family member in your Parivar)
This combination is what makes the answers genuinely specific. The same question asked on different days, or for different family members, produces meaningfully different answers.
How to Ask a Good Question
The more specific your question, the more useful the answer. Compare these two:
Too vague: "Is today good?"
Much better: "Is this afternoon a good time to have a difficult conversation with my business partner about renegotiating our contract?"
Ask the Pandit handles specificity well. You can name the activity, the timeframe, and the stakes. It uses all of that context alongside the panchang to give you a grounded answer.
Question Categories
Ask the Pandit is designed to handle questions across these areas:
- Timing and muhurat — "When should I sign this agreement?" "Is next Tuesday good for starting my business?"
- Daily guidance — "Why does today feel heavy?" "What should I focus on this week?"
- Career and finance — "Is this a good period for a career change?" "What does my Mahadasha suggest about financial decisions now?"
- Health — "Is this a good time for a medical procedure?" "What does my chart say about my energy levels this month?"
- Relationships — "How does today's panchang affect my relationship?" "Is this a good week to resolve a family conflict?"
- Travel — "Is tomorrow a good day to start this journey?" "What direction is auspicious for travel this week?"
- Ceremonies and rituals — "When should we do the griha pravesh for our new home?" "Is this month good for starting a new puja?"
Asking on Behalf of Family Members
Before asking your question, tap the profile selector at the top of the Ask the Pandit screen to switch to any family member in your Parivar. The AI will answer using their birth chart rather than yours. This is especially useful for questions about children, elderly parents, or a spouse's timing decisions.
Multi-Turn Conversations
Ask the Pandit supports follow-up questions. If the initial answer references your Chandrashtama or a specific Mahadasha, you can ask "what does that mean for me?" or "when does this period end?" The conversation continues with full context.
Credits and Pro Access
Free users receive 3 credits per 30-day rolling window. Pro subscribers receive 150 credits per 30-day rolling window, synced to the server across devices, plus a cap of 10 questions per calendar day. Each question costs 1 credit. "Deep" questions — those involving detailed kundali analysis, Mahadasha interpretation, Sade Sati, or marriage timing — cost 2 credits. The credit cost isn't shown before you ask, so it's worth knowing that in-depth chart questions draw more heavily on your balance. Free users can also earn +1 credit by watching a rewarded ad (up to a daily limit).
Privacy
Your birth data is stored only on your device. It is sent to the AI only when you ask a question — and only if you've enabled chart sharing. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → AI Privacy, and Ask the Pandit will still answer based on today's panchang without your personal chart data.
Pandit Ji gives you a live panchang, personal guidance from your birth chart, and muhurat timing — calculated for your exact location.
